No work scheduled for December 24th, 27th and 30th.

Week of December 28th – 30th:

Waterline work will continue from East South Street onto Old Avon Street.  Work will be completed with flagging of vehicular traffic in the daytime and no service interruptions are expected.

Week of January 3rd – 7th:

Public utility relocation continues – Garrett Street between 9th/Avon and 6th Street SE, 9th/Avon/Garrett/Levy intersection, Levy Avenue, Graves Street between 9th/Avon and Monticello Road.  Vehicular traffic will be flagged intermittently at these various locations in the daytime as connection points are unearthed, tested, disinfected and tied-in to activate the new waterline.  A sanitary sewer pipe will begin relocation in the coming weeks along the same alignment.

Duct bank construction will begin on the NW corner of Old Avon Street and Garrett Street.  The southern sidewalk will be closed along Garrett Street between 9th/Avon and 6th Street SE and pedestrians will be redirected to the northern sidewalk.  The western sidewalk along Old Avon Street between Garrett Street and South Street SE will also be closed.  Work will be completed with flagging of vehicular traffic in the daytime.

Monticello Road will be flagged intermittently between Graves Street and Old Avon Street as the crane removes full sections of the eastern bridge.

Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the project area and access to private parcels will be accommodated.

Construction is being conducted by Caton Construction Group, Inc. for the City of Charlottesville’s Department of Public Works. The pedestrian pushbuttons at the 9th/Avon/Levy/Garrett intersection have been relocated to the large, wooden signal poles (NE, NW and SW corners) and an auxiliary wooden post with metal conduit (SE corner).

Work zone is posted at 25 MPH – please drive carefully with phones down.
